Saturday's Workshop

We had an awesome time Saturday at my workshop with 13 ladies having a great time!

Our first make and take was this cute little box I learned on the January 18, 2009, blog entry by Karen Graff-Povis at www.stampwithkarengp.blogspot.com/. This is the side view of the box.

This is the top view of the box made with SU's Top Note Die, Whisper White, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Pacific Point cardstock, Tempting Turquoise ink and grosgrain ribbon, the 5-petal flower punch and the SAB stamp set, Yummy. In the workshop, we ended up using the 1/2" circle punch in YoYo Yellow for center of flower.

Our second make and take was this card using Basic Black and YoYo Yellow cardstock, the butterfly from Pretty Amazing, the flowers from Polka Dot Punches and the 5-petal punch and the greeting from Heard from the Heart. My scanner kind of washed it out. Much brighter IRL! We fussy cut the butterfly out, bent up his wings and attached him with a bit of Dimensional over a butterfly stamped on the card. We then drew a little trail. We lifted up the petals on the punched out flowers, too, after adhering flowers to front with Dimensionals. Got a lot of use out of the 5-petal punch!

Last but not least, this cutie was made with SU punches, a Leprechaun modified from the Santa Claus by Samantha Parisi and shown on her blog, http://www.rubberstampingdiva.com/. She has a slight problem covering up her instructions with pics, but here's her directions: "It was just too easy to adapt the Punch Art Santa to a Punch Art Leprechaun! He’s basically the same concept…the face is smaller (1-1/4" Circle Punch) and for the moustache: I punched a 1" Circle, and feed this back into the 5-Petal Flower Punch (just like I do the hair for the Cheerleaders!) His hat is half of the Keytag Punch with the Word Window Punch as the brim. A little ribbon and a square of gold cardstock, complete his ensemble. I did add ears this time…it seems to me that with all that gold to guard, a leprechaun would need to have excellent hearing…again, I used the Word Window Punch. " You can go to her blog and see her pictures. She's a whiz with punches and my hostess wanted me to play with punches at her workshop. I didn't have the Keytag Punch, so just made my hat with a circle punched out and cut down to shape of hat. The card was made with the Leprechaun and the Scalloped Border punch, with holes punched along the edge sorta kinda like a new Eyelet Border Punch wannabe and the Good Luck from Sincere Salutations was punched on the Large Oval punch, then two orange ones were punched out and adhered under the white one. I only have the one size, so I made do to get the layered look. The round Leprechaun was punched out and then layered on a mint patty. St. Paddy never had it so good! Contrary to the photo, the colors on both Leprechauns were Handsome Hunter, Pink Pirouhette, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and shiny gold.
This next photo shows both tables with me standing up in the back. Glad I brought two of most things!
Pam and Pat are deep in discussing something vitally important.

Last pic, we are all done with make and takes and Maureen and Edie are making decisions, decisions!

Everybody had a good time and lots of free SAB sets were earned! Special thanks to my "staff," Helen and Pam, without whom everything wouldn't have run nearly as smooth nor would we have been completely done and on the way home by 5:00! You ladies rocked!
Thanks for stopping by!

Stampfest in Clearwater

Went to Stampfest in Clearwater, FL, with three friends last Saturday and these are the best pics I took of stuff I liked.

First is a lovely blue Thomas Kinkade prolly from Cornish Heritage Farms. This is a new one I hadn't seen of some horses in front of a farmhouse. It's comforting to know that these elaborate stamps look just fine all in one color like this. Having to watercolor something this detailed would be a little intimidating!

This is a pretty color combo I liked with a Holly Berry stamp. Peach, cream and blue look well together.

Here's another Holly Berry, pink, lavender and white. Gotta love that fussy cutting and glitter!

Took pics of these cute little penguins (or "pekwins" as she calls them) for my Ozzy Buddy. These are from Darcies, http://www.darcie.com/.

More cute pekwins for Tracy!

While my friends continued to shop, I went to visit my Auntie in St. Petersburg. I took her a pretty valentine and shared with her and a cousin all the cool things I had bought. Outside her front door this hibiscus was blooming its little heart out! One of the few reasons I like Florida is flowers in February!

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

Stamp Club Pics

Hi, ladies. I finally got time to upload the pics from the February Stamp Club meeting. Our exchange card theme this month was "Wild Card," i.e., do your own thing. For some reason, a lot of them were Valentines! LOL

Jeannie couldn't make it, but she sent her project with Helen and me, a lovely embossed copper metallic technique, stamped with black Staz-on and embossed with a stylus over a mousepad. Corners were done with Sante Fe punch and top layer wrapped with 6 strands of copper colored embroidery floss. This first one is Therese's Tree of Life. Turned out really nice!

This is Therese's exchange card made with SU's Loads of Love truck.

Here is a card made by new member (and new to stamping, too!) Theresa. I love how she cut out along the edge for a neat border.

Tange made this with Au Chocolat designer paper and the dahlia from Fabulous Flowers.

This was made by our other new member, Rosie, also new to stamping. I love this border punch, the scalloped lacy edge. I think it's Martha Stewart's. I think the shoes and bag were 3-D stickers, but not sure. Under the first flap it says "thanks," and under the second flap it says "merci." Great colors, too.

Even though Pam couldn't make it, she turned in her exchange card (you don't get one if you don't bring one!), Thinking of You with the lady from Summer by the Sea, scalloped square nestie and the dotted Swiss Cuttlebug embossing folder. This lady is one of my favorite SU stamps, retired now.

This is Lona's Treasure using King Tut, embossing and metallic paste rub on.

Even though Jeannie was not there, she turned in her exchange card, a cute little pink baby elephant!

This is Jeannie's project sample, technique described above. Everybody loved the project and some gorgeous cards were made that night.

This is Helen's Love Note, done perfectly with a CB music embossing folder.

This is Genny's sweet puppy wishing for a Valentine. She used a CB embossing folder, too.

This is Elle's Let's bee friends birthday card, made with flower punches and tiny little bee buttons on the center of the flowers.

This is Cheryl's birthday card made with Flower Soft and punches. Cute little lady bugs I think she made with hearts!

I turned in my Valentine card that I blogged below, the one with the red heart and pink flowers down the side.
That's all for this month's stamp club. Will put up some of the pics from Stampfest tomorrow or next day.
Thanks for stopping by!

Valentines II, Finally!

I finally got a chance to upload the pics of the rest of my valentines. My great and wonderous Ozzy Buddy cropped my horrible pics so they would look nicer and she even stuck my watermark on there (something I have been unable to master, as yet!).

This first one uses a combination of Cuttlebug embossing folder (tiny hearts), die cuts from a Slice, and heart Nesties.
This second one is the one I am giving to my Russel. Uses same CB embossing folder and lovely frames made with Nestie hearts, both classic and scalloped.

This one is just a wild combo of heart Nesties, CB folder and Slice diecuts. I had the strip of lattice just laying around and stuck it on there. It's from a corner punch I borrowed.

Last, but not least, one big chocolate chip Nestie heart with the love and you die cuts off a Slice machine.

Thanks for stopping by. More to come soon of pics from stamp club meeting and Stampfest.

Saturday's Workshop

Saturday I had my first Sale-A-Bration (SAB) workshop and we made a couple of cute projects. This first one is a little goodie sack made with three Top Notes, the Yummy SAB set, the Word Window punch and a little flower made with the 5-petal punch. With my sideline Michelle's technique, they end up stiff and more dimensional than just punching them out and layering them. Finished them up with a half pearl from the Pretties Kit. This was really popular, especially when I passed out the mini-conversation hearts to fill the little bags inside!

The other make and take was a Pacific Point/Chocolate Chip version of a card my upline Vivian made in Pink Pirouette with black framing. I love this Echoes of Kindess Level II hostess set as delphiniums are one of my favorite flowers. We did this with a simple watercolor technique using the Pacific Point, Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss reinkers.

I had lots of good feedback on these two make and takes. Guess the ladies were all happy, which makes me happy!
Thanks for visiting!

Wally in the Pool!

My Ozzie buddy Tracy got some cool pics in an e-mail from a friend. This little guy was hot and thirsty and came down out of the woods to prowl around trying to cool off. These people spotted him on their back porch and put out a basin of water for him. After taking a good drink, he decided to crawl in! Temps in Melbourne have been over 110 degrees F for weeks. Lots of problems from overheating, A/C breaking down, railroad rails drooping, etc. Koalas on your back porch would be a nice benefit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Valentines I

I've just been a stamping fool yesterday and today, as if I didn't have plenty else to do! Stamped a bunch of images of this little puppy when I got to Therese's CTMH party an hour early (confused, I was!) Saturday. Started coloring them there and finished them last night. Made these for a pledge to a children's hospital in Michigan.

I used bits and pieces of die cut words and hearts done with a Slice, thanks Lona. To make them pop more, I covered them with Diamond Glaze. Background is a retired Itty Bitty Background. The top left card used a Big Note die from SU and a fussy cut Love from a retired SU set, A Light Heart.

Went totally over the top on these two. Forgot to sponge on the edges of the flowers before I dampened them and crushed them and unfolded them and dried them, but will do that when I make more. These were made with borrowed Nesties classic and scalloped hearts, thanks to Therese, SU's five-petal punch and SU's pretties kit for pearls and pin. The hearts background is a borrowed Cuttlebug embossing folder, thanks to Helen.

One of these will be for my sweetie for Valentine's Day. He doesn't mind when I make him cards and then take them back for samples. Got a keeper with him.
Thanks for stopping by.

Therese's CTMH Workshop

Yesterday, my good buddy Therese had a Close to My Heart workshop. We're friendly competitors, always happy to learn something new or make something pretty. First up are two of her designs she made for Valentines using the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder and the scalloped Nestie hearts.

First up, her lovely red on pink hearts . . .

Followed by her gorgeous pink on red hearts. Yummy, girlfriend!

This is my version of the kanji hearts we all did as make and takes. Only diff between mine and Therese's was she had her cord looser and swirlier (is that a word? LOL). It was a trip doing the eyelets on the hearts with a Crop-a-dile. Two ladies had never seen one before and one commented that it looked like some horrible tool one would find in a gynecologist's office! Noooo, get that image out of my head!

Here's Therese's sample she made from a Take Five layout challenge. I'm no good at cropping, hence the Windex bottle, but my scan of my card was orangey! This is much truer to the colors which included CTMH's Juniper and Sorbet. Gorgeous colors!
That's it for this time. Thanks for looking.
