July Creative Images Meeting

Finally have time and no storms so I can get the pics blogged from last Wednesday’s meeting.  Every afternoon it was too stormy to have puters on!  It’s been more complicated this time, too, as I had to learn a new program to get the pics off my camera and resize them.  Russel is getting a new puter soon and his will become mine, along with its fancier newer Paint Shop Pro X3.  So it took him and me and no storms to get it done yesterday.  Hooray for technology!  Not!

Our exchange card theme this month was “Under the Sea” and we got a bunch of great cards.  I lost one pic, too blurry, so if whomever received Pat R’s mermaid card in the exchange would bring it in next time, I can try again.  Sorry, Pat.

This first card is Therese’s nifty turtle.  Her background (BG) was embossed and sponged and the turtle was fussy cut and painted with Twinkling H2O’s to give him a mother of pearly look.  Click on the pic to see details, then click on back.  The water lily is Cami’s, doing the alcohol ink on glossy technique for her BG.  Love both of them.

Here are two entirely different cards using the same stamp!  On the left is Ella’s water colored and embellished with sequins for scales, shells and a yellow fishy brad.  Jeannie’s on the right has multiple layers, shells and a seahorse embellishment.  Both awesome.

Here’s my little seascape with an oval cut with a Coluzzle and the critters all fussy cut, outlined in black and popped up.  The crabs googley eyes are glued on and the others are done with a white gel pen with black gel dots.

Pam said she had no sea themed stamps, but she did just fine with these fishy buttons!  Looks like Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers!

Pat J water colored this fishy card and did something to make the bubbles shiny, maybe Crystal Effects?  Love the pun in the sentiment.

The theme is only a suggestion, not mandatory, so when Tange had no sea stamps, she brought this gold embossed Christmas card.  Ex-Tange

Pam had the project this month.  She taught us a new background technique called “Faux Pillow” done with a straight, clear plastic edge and sponge daubers.  This first card is the sample of the make and take we all did.

 Project 1

These next two are just samples of cards with the pillow top technique background.

Project 3 Project 2

Here are three finished make and takes, all a little different.

These next three cards are show and tells.  The pretty aqua one is Tange’s, the fussy cut embossed sea horses is Jeannie’s.

This was going to be my exchange card, but I couldn’t give him up.  He will also be a sample of the bendy card technique I am doing as my project  in November.  I promise the project won’t have this much, if any, fussy cutting!  The whole time I was fussy cutting all the critters in this and my exchange card, I was hearing the “Under the Sea” song from the “Littlest Mermaid.”

Finally, as Pam had the project, she brought in her stamp camp proposed project, a birthday card with a matching mini-cake candle.

That’s it for this month’s meeting.  Thanks for stopping by.  Comments always welcome.
