Class and Brandi’s Bug

I recently took a class at a local stamp store using some lovely coordinated vintage papers, stickers, buttons and ribbons.  The colors in the pics are muted and are more lively IRL, but you get the picture.  You can click on them for details.

I really like the button with linen thread bow.  This needs something, but class said not.

Red Button

The little presents in the frame were fussy cut from one of the sheets of BG paper.

Framed Gifts

First time I ever used alphabet stickers on a card!

Joy

Second time!  LOL  Going to have to do this more often.  Probably cheaper to use stickers than buy alphabet dies, especially if you’re not a scrapper.

Peace

This weekend, I made these tags that I started in the class.  Bought a cool punch that nips off the corners perfectly.  My stamp club has a tag swap at our Christmas party and these will work well.  I can’t go as Russel’s holiday office party is in Alabama that weekend, but I’ll find someone to swap my tags for me.  I like getting a bunch of different tags.

BG Tags

Speaking of Russel’s work, one of the ladies in the home office caught the flu from her daughter and has been out for a week.  I made her this cute little card using some jars and a saying I printed off my puter.  Only stamp is the coffee bean turned into a bug!  I cut out an extra bug and popped him up.  Drew in his legs and antenna, but he needed googly eyes.  I didn’t have any small enough, so I punched out two 1/8” circles, put black dots on them and stuck them on.  Surprise myself sometimes.

Air Mail from Down Under!

I got two, count ‘em, two little packages from Oz yesterday from Tracy and her son Edyn.  One small envelope and one positively stuffed envelope, both with gorgeous air mail stamps, one of a lovely waterfall and one of a kangaroo with her joey.  It actually worked to scan them, but they are kind of small.  Click on the pic to enlarge for detail.  Tracy mailed these last Thur. or Fri. and I got them already!  Way to go Aussie posties!

Air Postage

I had been expecting something from Tracy, but not from her 12-year old son Edyn!  He told his Mum he wanted to make me a card, too, conceived his own design, asked for what he needed and made this great card!  I love the two layer balloon made with a faux button. Will have to make me some balloons like this someday.  I just love this card!  Edyn used his Mum’s Cuttlebug die cut alphabet to make my name and he hand drew “Happy Birthday” and the balloon on the matching DSP.  Inside he thanked me again for sending him Jack London’s White Fang, which he still likes to read, and expressed a wish to see the Space Center.  Would love to take him to see a launch at the Cape and to tour the Kennedy Space Center.  Somebody hurry up and win the Lotto!  When I showed this card to Russel, he said, “You have something very special there” and I do.  THANKS, EDYN!

Edyn's card

Then, I got to open Tracy’s envelope.  She wrapped that sucker in packing tape so it wouldn’t explode in the mail.  Needed to take after it with a knife to get into it!  LOL  Inside, besides the card, I found a cool Asian alphabet rub on set and three little packs of half pearls.  Tracy and I are firm believers in never having enough poils!

This card is a joint effort by Tracy and our St. Louis buddy Dee.  Dee sent some Bellas to Tracy to play with and Tracy sent one of them to me.  I think they might have even designed it together with the miracle of modern technology and Tracy’s web cam on MSN.  Lots of glitter and bling!  Love the wire arms and the wire bow on the bucket of rubies.  Friends like Tracy and Dee make my heart happy, too!   Click to enjoy the details!  Isn’t she gawjus!  Me likeeeeee!

Thanks so much, Tracy and Edyn (and Brett, too)!

BRAK’s! I got BRAK’s!

My birthday was last week and I received some Birthday RAK’s from some friends and a total stranger.

The first one is from Dell on the BRAK committee at Splitcoaststampers.   The yellow petals are sort of textured with some kind of thick acrylic, maybe.  The center of the daisy is popped up and sparkles with glitter.  Thanks, Dell!

SCS & Idelle's

Cheryl made this lovely dragonfly, colored with Twinkling H2O’s, I think.  Pink is my favorite color!  Thanks, Cheryl!

 Cheryl's dragonfly

Gale made this purty card with some Autumn leaves BG paper, some Primas and a great silver maple leaf brad.  I have some of this paper and have been hoarding it for years and years!  LOL  Some people actually get into their stash and use it!  Thanks, Gale!

Gale's Leaves

Pam played with all kinds of stuff on this one.  SU’s Ski Slope DSP, her swirly CB embossing folder, ticket, scalloped, oval and flower punches, Pocket Silhouettes and her brand new Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Thanks, Pam!

October 12, 2009, Creative Images Meeting

We had a good meeting last night with lots of cards, ATC’s and a good project.  Theme for exchange card was Autumn/Harvest, theme for ATC’s was Halloween, and Rosie and Theresa put together a cute little goodie bag for a Halloween project.  Theresa was home sick, but Rosie did a good job with the project, despite having injured her wrist somehow.  A good time was had by all and plans were made for the December Stamp Camp projects.   First up, the exchange cards.  You can click on any picture for details.

This wheelbarrow of pumpkins was watercolored by Ella.

Ella's Harvest Hello

This lovely oak leaf was fussy cut by Gale and mounted on mulberry paper and a leafy background paper.

Pam made this Goblin Greetings with the Top Note die and more oval punched pumpkins.

Pam's Goblins

Lona made this with lots of gold leaf, mesh and glitter.

Rosie made this with SU’s Lovely as a Tree stamp set with soft blue and brown.

Rosie's Lovely card

Tange made this Autumy-looking aster.  I don’t know if she punched it out, die cut it or fussy cut it, but I likes it.

Tange's Orange Aster

Therese made this cute turkey gobbler with leaves and pies on the BG paper.

Therese's Gobbler

Next up are the five ATC’s brought in for the swap.

Here’s Ella’s spider on a Cuttlebug embossed web, creeping by just to say hi.

Rosie and Theresa had the project this month and this is the cute little Halloween treat bag they came up with.  Behind the two black panels is a tiny little brown lunch sack!  Eyelets, googly eyes, ribbon and cords dressed this up.

Edie’s Workshop, 10-11-09

We had a great time yesterday and I even managed to take some pictures at the workshop.  I also have pics of the drawing prizes, two make and takes and some of the samples I showed off.  We got 15 ladies into Edie’s dining room/kitchen!  Besides these two tables, we had 3 ladies set up at breakfast bar off to left of my work area by the sink.  The luminarias on the tables were door prizes.  Click on any picture for details.

Set up

Here’s my work area in the foreground and ladies cranking up for a good time.

Cranking up

Ginny with an “i” is gonna kill me for this one!

Ginny, et al

Maybe she’ll like this one better!

Me & Ginny

Here’s Linda and Ursula with Holly, my “staff” behind them.  Couldn’t have done yesterday without Holly’s help!  We had some new stampers mixed in and she helped them a lot.

Linda & Ursula

This was our first make and take using Scenic Seasons.  The look is completely different from the Brilliant Blue moonscape I did in my last post.  Sponged with Autumn colors, stamped image with black Staz-on, punched corners with Ticket Punch and did the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes punched out with Word Window and layered on the Modern Label.  Mask was done with a post-it note.

Scenic Season 5

Second make and take was done with Serene Snowflakes, greeting from Heard from the Heart, Christmas Cocoa Specialty flocked designer paper, and Organza ribbon.  We dotted the centers of the snowflakes with 2-way glue and added Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  This is one of my early samples.  Our final card had a slightly wider band of DSP and used another snowflake out of the set, as well.  Very pretty, yet simple.

Serene Snowflakes 5

Here’s a sample I made with the triple-threat ornament.  Used the new ornament die from Movers and Shapers on Real Red CS, stamped the ornament from Delightful Decorations with Real Red ink, then punched it out with the Ornament punch to adhere to inside of card behind the window.  Used Christmas Cocoa DSP again, organza ribbon again and the greeting from Grateful Greetings on the wide oval punch.

Delightful Decos 2

Here’s another sample from Serene Snowflakes using Bermuda Bay CS and ink, Soft Suede CS and ink, Whisper White CS and Taken with Teal CS.  Finished off with Bermuda Bay ribbon.  Did the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes punched out with Word Window and layered on the Modern Label.  That combo is getting a workout.

Serene Snowflakes 2

Here’s a sample from Autumn Days.  Saw  wreath like this on Splitcoast here and punched it up.  I had a pheasant already fussy cut out, so stuck him in the middle!  And there’s that combo, again!

Autumn Days 8

Here’s a cute little Dracula treat box I made for a drawing prize. Angie Juda’s video on how to make these is here.

Dracula Box

I gave Edie her choice of a hostess gift.  Dracula or this cute little note pad holder.  She picked one of these, with Lavender colors!  Dawn Griffin’s Post-It Note & Pen Holder, June 17, 2009, is here.Note pad

Here’s one of the luminarias I made.  I also made them with the new Haunted Hill wheel, but forgot to take pictures.  This is from last year’s Haunting wheel.

Haunted Lantern 2

And last, but not least, here’s the co-hostess from yesterday’s workshop, Miss Princess.  She’s a Sheltie that Edie keeps clipped in the summer (which just will not go away!).  She worked the crowd like a pro and was perfectly behaved.  Snacks right where she could sniff or grab, but she left them alone.  Good Princess!

Pam’s Workshop, Etc.

I have a little time today to post the pics from my last workshop at Pam’s.  Did some cute things for make and takes and a hostess gift and some drawings, so will get them on here before I have my next workshop this Sunday.  So here goes.

Here’s the two make and takes we did.  First is this Autumn Days card on Dusty Durango with a large scalloped oval using the Big Shot die for the Chocolate Chip frame.  I used YoYo Yellow CS for the oval layer, stamping the image with Dusty Durango and Chocolate Chip.  Popped up a fussy cut pheasant over a stamped pheasant so we wouldn’t have to cut out his feet.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched out with the Word Window and mounted on the Modern Label layer.

Autumn Days 7

This is the Halloween card with the Sweet Treat cup with Halloween confetti in it.  The base is Crushed Curry CS with layers of Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry.  I black embossed the main image, used the 1 3/4” circle punch in the middle and put in the Sweet Treat cup.  Behind the window, I stamped a spider from Batty for You, but he is sideways!  Oops!  Nobody noticed!  Black layer was punched with the Spiral Punch.

Sweet Halloween 2

I had Vivian’s Movers and Shapers die to play with and die cut the ornament shape on the red card.  I white embossed the snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes, the ornament from Delightful Decorations and the sentiment from Holiday Best.  I used the new ornament punch on the ornament and adhered it to inside of card, visible through the die cut window.  White grosgrain ribbon finished it off.

Delightful Decos 1

Here’s a sample I made with Scenic Season in Brilliant Blue ink stamped and sponged on Whisper White, cut into three panels and mounted on Basic Black on a Brilliant Blue base with silver cord around the layers.  I did the bow separate and glued it on.  Just wouldn’t lay right otherwise.  Fussy cut the greeting, popped it up on black and fussy cut that, too.  I used a Post-it note mask for the moon.

Scenic Season 2

Last up, three little turkeys I made based on a video tutorial I found here.   I changed the feathers a little, but these are soooo cute.  Instead of Sweet Treat petals like Connie used, I used the small oval punch on Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Real Red cardstock for the tail.  The body and feathers are Chocolate Chip.  Gotta love those Sweet Treat Cups!

Sweet Treat Turkeys

I can’t find my pic of the little dracula box I had as a hostess gift, but will put that in my next post since I made two!

That’s it for now.  Thanks for visiting.
