Creative Images January Stamp Camp

As you can see, I am way behind in my blog, but will try to catch up today with the stamp camp, my trip to Minnesota and the February meeting.  We’ll see how far I get.  I will at least get pictures on here, hopefully not being too verbose while I am at it.

At the stamp camp, the theme for the exchange card was Monochromatic.  Only three ladies remembered there was an exchange card (I said the turn out was “pitiful”), and here they are.  Yes, I forgot.

First Cami did this lovely die cut cream and beige card.

Ex-Cami

Pat Rockwell made this striking black and white birthday card.

Ex-Pat R

Helen made this white on white snowflake punched, die cut birthday card.  “Birthday” is on the inside.

We had several good projects.  I’ll go in order we did them.  First is Genny’s little tea box with the dahlia on top.  Sort of learned two things in one.  Here’s pics of her samples.  First, two cards she made using her dahlias.

Dahlia cards

Here’s everything lined up nicely.  Genny did a great job showing us how to do everything.

The first box is Pat R’s and the second one is mine.

Next, we did Therese’s project, a cute little suite case card.  Here’s Therese working on getting ready.

Here’s Tange chairing meeting and admiring the snack table.

Tange and goodies

After lunch, Tange taught us how to make these beautiful flowers.  Mine is on the left and Pat R’s on the right.  Tange’s project was using beads to make embellishments and she threw in this as something extra that she had learned the night before.

Here’s my collection of hat pins made from the beads Tange and Jeannie had picked out.  Mine are in the back, I can’t remember who’s are in the front.

Here’s Genny and Ella discussing the tea boxes.

Here’s a bunch of us waiting to get started, Cami, Helen and Pat R in front.  Tange, Helen and Therese in back.

Lest we forget, here’s the statute of Dep. Litz outside the the Sheriff’s Substation where we’ve had our camps the last few years.  Almost ten years since he was killed in the line.

That’s it for stamp camp!

Thanks for stopping by.

She’s Baaaack!

Been far, far away and very busy since I got back, to say nothing of struggling with a new computer (to me, at least) and processing a whole bunch of pics.  And, ya’ll had winter while I was gone!  Two whole days of it.  I was up with my sister in Rochester, MN, January 1-10, and they had their coldest weather in years and years, minus 24!  Yikes.  Didn’t even go out of the house that day.  Lots of things to blog and tomorrow will add even more to that list, so I will just consider this a teaser.  I have pics of my sister’s quilts, including the wedding quilt she just finished for her son and his bride that are getting married in May, pics of the wedding invitations I went up there to work on and shower stuff.  The latter pics will have to wait until after the shower.

Here’s a couple pics to tide you over for a bit.  This is Betsy’s pride and joy, hanging over her stairwell to lower level.

That’s all I have time for today.  Blogging program is updated, too, so I had to learn that as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yummy, Cheryl’s Mexicorn Salsa

Cheryl, a/k/a Cami, sent me an e-mail with the much requested recipe for her Mexicorn Salsa and asked me to put it on my blog.  Her wish is my command!  Enjoy!

Mexicorn Salsa

Ingredients

2 11 oz. cans Mexicorn, drained

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup real mayonnaise

1-2 scallions, chopped small (including green tops)

salt, to taste

Fritos Scoops for dipping

Preparation Instructions

Mix all ingredients (except Fritos Scoops) together and refrigerate 1 hour to allow flavors to blend.

Serve with Fritos Scoops corn chips for dipping.

Note from Kathy:  Being a Miracle Whip child as opposed to one brought up on “real mayo,”  I bet Miracle Whip would taste just as good.  I would also add some garlic and cilantro.

Let Cami know how you liked it.  Thanks for stopping by.

Creative Images Christmas Party

We had a good time last night and I lucked out and have Russel here to process the photos for me, so I’m on the ball!  We had our Christmas card exchange, tag exchange, Chinese gift exchange and munchies.  Yumm!  First, the cards.  My goal is to get the pics side by side and it only happens accidentally!  Maybe next month, when I have an upgraded puter, I will have more success.  Click on any card for detail, then back to return.

First up, Therese made this joyful card with poinsettias and die cuts.  Cheryl/Cami made this layered Christmas tree with some fussy cut holly.

Ex-Therese Ex-Cami

Ella made this cute Hippo Holly-Days card.  Love his sparkly toenails!  Helen made this Santa checking his list, twice, I’m sure!

Ex-Ella  Ex-Helen

Jeannie made this vintage card with tags, fibers and fussy cut holly.

Ex-Jeannie

This is my card, using SU’s Joyful Christmas stamp set.  I embossed and fussy cut the poinsettias and leaves.

Ex-Kathy

Here’s Genny’s card using the same stamp set.  She embossed hers on shiny red CS before fussy cutting it out.  Two different looks, same set!

Ex-Genny

Pam made this simple, peaceful cardinal with white pigment ink for the trees and the bird punch, with a tiny addition for the cardinal’s top knot.  Pat J. made this lovely tree with the embossed frame and pretty poinsettias.

Ex-Pam Ex-Pat J

Pat R. made her card with the stick on outlines, micro-fine glitter and markers.  Love that technique.  Tange made this stunning gold embossed peace card.

Here we are enjoying the party!

Here’s the Chinese gift exchange presents.

Here’s the different tags made for the tag swap.  Some really nice ones this year.

Here’s the table of treats we all enjoyed.

Treats

I was especially curious about these and asked Therese if she knew who made them. She wasn’t being a smarty pants, but she said, “Yes.”  When I poked at her, she said, “Oh, I did.”  Home made turtles.  Yummy.

We finalized our plans for the January stamp camp.  We’re going to make Therese’s little Tim Holtz valise cards, Genny’s tea box with the dahlia on top and Tange’s embellishments.  See last month’s post to see pics.

That’s it for now.   Have a very Merry Christmas and see you next year!   Comments always welcome.

Proposed Stamp Camp Projects

I have organized the pics I have taken at each meeting where a proposed project was submitted for this coming January’s stamp camp.  Had to rename them as they all were called “proposed project”!  I don’t think it would be fair for me to do much but identify and describe a little each proposed project.  I could sway the votes if I was too vociferous in my praise!  Or not.  Either way, here are the pics, identified as to who made them.  We are to each bring in our project for hands on inspection before voting at the December meeting/Christmas party on Dec. 11. Click on pic for details and back to return.

November Creative Images Meeting

We had a nice turnout Wednesday and everyone brought in an exchange card with our “Angel” theme.  Jeannie had been sick, so Tange and Genny brought in proposed stamp camp projects.  In a separate post, I will show all of them together to help us vote on what we want to do in January.  Jeannie had the project this month showing us how to use Dicrofibers, heat fusible fibers.  More info and tutorials are available at www.usartquest.com and www.artcraftcreate.com.

First, I’ll do the Angels.  For some reason, it put most of my pics side by side.  Will never do that for me when I want to!  Sheesh!  Click on a pic for details and then back to return.  Lots of details to see on all of these.

Therese made this lovely embossed and colored angel on an embossed scalloped oval.  She threaded silver ribbon through the scallops and dotted liquid pearls on there, too.  Cami made this darling card with three tiny, colored and fussy cut guardian angels on a cloud embossed background.

Ex-Therese Ex-Cami

Ella made this shy angel on a shimmery, mosaic background, lightly colored, and embellished with tulle and jewels.  Genny colored this angel fairy and mounted her on some pretty DSP.  Genny finished her off with glitter on her wings.

Ex-Ella Ex-Genny

Jeannie embossed and fussy cut this angel and added a feather and some gold bling.  I diecut my angel with a Cricut and mounted her on some cloud DSP.

Ex-Jeannie Ex-Kathy

Here’s three totally different cards all done with the same angel stamp!  First is Pat J’s, with gorgeous punched poinsettias that I thought were stickers.  Next is Pat R’s done on a dryer sheet with some glitter.  She needs to teach us how to do that!

Ex-PatJ Ex-PatR

And last is Tange’s angel embossed in gold and then layered on blue, red and gold with some bling on the bottom.  All three of these turned out really well.  You have to click on them to see all the details.  Beautiful.

Ex-Tange

Here is one of Jeannie’s samples of her Dicrofiber project made into a card.  Very effective as a background.

Project Sample1

Here’s four more samples of Jeannie’s Dicrofiber project using different colors and stamps.  Always love to learn something new.

Tange brought in several samples of a proposed project for the stamp camp.  Embellished, stamped and beaded charms.  Here’s Genny holding one up.

Proposed 2

Here’s a few more samples.  They all have stamping on at least one side.

Proposed 2b

Genny brought in her proposed stamp camp project, a tea dispenser box with a dahlia fold flower on top.  I think she got the dahlia off Pinterest and the box off Splitcoast.

 Proposed 1b  Proposed 1

Last, but not least, here is a little show and tell snowman, nicely cut and layered by Tange.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon for the Christmas party!  That’s all for this month.  Comments always welcome.
